The Job List

The Job is the most important configuration element in Save-N-Sync. It is primarily made up of a pair of folders, one as the source and the other as the target. A list of jobs in the current project, as well as buttons for altering this list of jobs is shown on the main Save-N-Sync screen.

On the left, the available buttons are Add, Edit, Copy, and Delete. The functionality of each button is as follows:

The Add button begins the process of adding a new job to the current project. It initially displays the Add New Job configuration dialog.
The Edit button allows the user to edit the currently selected job. It displays the Edit Job dialog. This button is only enabled when a valid job is selected within the list of jobs.
The Copy button makes a duplicate of the currently selected job. Like the Edit button, it is only available when a valid job is selected within the list of jobs.
The Delete button deletes the currently selected job. Like the Edit and Copy buttons, it is only available when a valid job is selected within the list of jobs.

The list that fills the rest of this section serves several purposes. It  displays all of the jobs in the current project, and allows users to enabled and disable jobs by checking and un-checking the box next to each job's name. The order in which jobs are executed can also be adjusted but clicking on a job name and dragging it to the desired location. When mousing over a single job, summary information is displayed for the job. The list also has a right-click menu, revealing the same options as the buttons on the left provide, with the exception of the Add button.

This dialog provides the user with options pertaining to the type of scan to be executed, as well as the connection type to be used for the source and target folders. Depending on what you select for a Scan Configuration Mode, the Scan Configuration Options may change. Below these options is text describing the current Mode/Option combination. Below this text are connection type selections for both the source and the target. The items listed in each may vary depending on the licenses that you have installed. Just note that once you leave this screen, you can not change these options again for this particular job. Click OK to continue configuring the job.

In this dialog, you select the actual folders to use as source and target. This display will change depending on the connection types that you selected in the previous dialog. On the particular dialog shown above, both source and target paths use local and/or network connections. Information on the available connection types and their configurations are here. Once the source and target paths are configured, you can choose to Include Subfolders (folders within your source folder) in the scan, you can Swap source and target paths of the same type, you can disable the automatic name generation for this job, and you can give the job a custom name. Clicking OK will save this job to the current project.

Recent source and target path configurations can be recalled by right-clicking in the open space around the text box. A list of previously used path configurations will be brought up. Selecting one will load its configuration information into the appropriate fields. These recent path configurations can be cleared from the Application Options dialog.

Editing an Existing Job

After creating a job, you go back and edit it by selecting the job in the job list and clicking the Edit button. This will display a dialog similar to the path selection dialog.
