Scheduling & Automation

Top  Previous  Next

Save-N-Sync includes a robust, yet simple to use mechanism for automating operations that is based on a combination of schedules. When Run Schedule is selected on the main Save-N-Sync window, all of the defined schedules are applied to each of the items that are enabled in the job list .

Types of Schedules

The following schedules are available in Save-N-Sync:

Run Now

Similar to the Run Now button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar, this schedule starts scanning any enabled jobs as soon as Run Schedule is selected from the Save-N-Sync toolbar.

Run Once

Sets the enabled jobs to run at a single specified date and time.

Interval

Sets the enabled jobs to run at a given interval based on seconds, minutes, or hours.

Daily Timer

Sets the enabled jobs to run during a certain time of day and/or day of week.

Real-Time

Sets the enabled jobs to watch for and process changes in the source folder as they occur.

NOTE: Real-time detection can only detect changes on the local machine and is only available on Windows-based operating systems.

NOTE: Bi-Directional Scan Mode and real-time detection cannot be used at the same time. When a job is set to Bi-Directional Scan Mode and real-time is enabled and activated, the job will default to the normal Standard Mode w/o Deletions. This will not alter the project in anyway.

NOTE: The Files Checked status counter may not reflect the actual number of files in a folder during real-time detection, but will  indicate a combination of the number of scanned files and the number of file add and change events that have been detected.

Schedule Selection

In Save-N-Sync, schedules are created, updated, and deleted from within the Schedule Selection dialog, which is available by selecting Schedule from the Save-N-Sync toolbar, or by going to the View menu and selecting Edit Schedule. The following dialog is then displayed:

This dialog is split into four sections: Schedule Type, General Schedule Options, Days of the Week, and the Schedule List.

The Schedule List contains seven columns; Schedules, Run Every, Start Date, Start Time, End Date, End Time, and Days of the week; as well as three buttons, Add Schedule, Update, and Delete.
