Once Save-N-Sync has been installed and registered, creating a new Save-N-Sync project consists of the following four steps:
When you first start Save-N-Sync after registering it, you should see the following:
If the job list contains items, you can clear them out by clicking on the New button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar or by going to the File menu and selecting New Project. Once this is done, you can then add new jobs. For information on adding new jobs and editing existing jobs, see the Job Configuration page.
NOTE: In order to run a project, it MUST contain at least one job.
After you have added jobs to the project, you can then configure schedules. For information on creating new schedules and editing existing ones, see the Schedule & Automation page.
NOTE: This step is not required for Save-N-Sync to properly start a project.
Before saving and starting a project, you may want to edit some project-specific options. For information on editing these options, see the Project Options page.
NOTE: This step is not required for Save-N-Sync to properly start a project.
When you are ready to start your new project, we strongly recommend that you first save the project. To do so, click on the Save button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar, or go to the File menu and select Save. You will be prompted for the location where you would like to save the file. Save-N-Sync projects are saved as *.sns files. After you have saved your new project, you are ready to run it.
There are two main ways in which to start your new project:
Run Now
If you have not created any schedules in Step 2, or if you would like to ignore them and just run this project immediately, you can do so by pressing the Run Now button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar. If everything is configured properly, you should see some form of activity in the Application Status area and the Elapsed Time counter should increase. Also, the Run Now button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar should convert to a Stop Sync button. If you press this button while a project is running, the project will be canceled.
NOTE: If you have not configured any jobs or if no jobs are enabled (checked), the Run Now button will not be available.
Run Schedule
If you have configured any schedules in Step 2, then the Run Schedule button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar should be enabled. If you would like to start the project based on the schedules that you created, click this button.
NOTE: If the Run Now Schedule Type has not been added to the list of schedules, you may not see any initial activity upon running the project. If everything was configured properly, the Elapsed Time counter should at least increase. If no scan or copy activity is visible in the Application Status area, than the status bar should mention something about watching for changes, or should give the time and date of the next scan. Also, the Run Schedule button on the Save-N-Sync toolbar should convert to a Stop Sync button. If you press this button while a project is running, it will be canceled.
